“Do not answer a fool according to his folly, or you will be like him yourself”. Proverbs 26:4 can serve as a guide for dealing with many kinds of relationships, but in WORDS FROM THE WISE, PARENTING WITH PROVERBS, the message is clear: Don’t feed the tantrum! We have to know when to ignore our child’s behavior and when to deal with it in the most effective way.

Life is busier than ever for today’s parents as they juggle work, play dates, sports schedules, and appointments while still managing to make three meals a day, put the kids to bed and keep the house in order. We become parents before we’ve dealt with past pain and sometimes dysfunctional family backgrounds. And a parent’s number one job of nurturing righteous, independent, humble, generous, and compassionate children has been made more difficult than ever by the insidious influences of media, and a society that values getting ahead above all else.

WORDS FROM THE WISE, PARENTING WITH PROVERBS offers straightforward solutions for tackling all of a parent’s biggest duties and dilemmas: from getting your child to eat healthy foods, to establishing good bedtime routines, to carrying out foolproof discipline methods for all age groups. The answers are all in the Book of Proverbs and they are interpreted here for the first time for all parents who seek guidance, support and to heal the past so that we do not pass down our baggage to our children.

Acknowledgement
There are so many people to thank for helping me make this book possible and I guess the place to start is at the beginning. I want to take this opportunity to thank the scared, confused, abandoned sixteen year-old girl who made the courageous decision to have her baby and raise her on her own. Mom, I don’t know how you did it- especially when the only words of advice were from your strict German grandmother, “Just have the baby and leave it at the hospital”. Thank you for the sacrifice of your youth and education and for enduring the hardships that came along with choosing life. In that choice, God was able to use my life for His glory.
